‘Something Wicked’ theme for art show in Elgin gallery

Side Street Studio Arts in Elgin will present a temporary art installation featuring a variety of arts media whose subject matter is meant to instill a combined sense of wonder, awe and perhaps a little dread with the aptly titled “Something Wicked.”
The event will feature live music by Koopa and Los Mysterios. Suggested donation is $5.
The event is supported in part by The Palmer Foundation.
“Something Wicked” will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at 15 Ziegler Court, Elgin. For details, call (847) 429-2276 or visit www.sidestreetstudioarts.org.
The monthlong event will continue with “Saturday Night Film Fever” at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, with “Night of the Living Dead” and other classic horror. On Friday, Oct. 11, the “Something Wicked Burlesque Show” will be at 9 p.m. Medusa’s Dark Wave just around the corner will start at 11 p.m. On Saturday, Oct. 12, it will be a Kids’ Day Event with costumes, scarecrows, and a jack-o’-lantern contest. On Friday, Oct. 18, join the NENA Monster Mash pre-party at 6:30 p.m. The “Warm-Up the Dead Costume Contest” will be at 7 p.m. Stop by to show off your costume for the NENA Monster Mash (or just try out your costume for 2013). There will be music and libations to follow.
On Saturday, Oct. 19, the “Last Chance Zombie Disco” will be at 7 p.m. Only one week until you can join Elgin’s Safe Zone for Nightmare on Chicago Street. Dress as a zombie, dance as a zombie, and get your zombie platforms on.
On Friday, Oct. 25, a “Movie and a Makeover” at 7 p.m. Watch a spooky movie and get last-minute makeup tips from the Death Maidens.
On Saturday, Oct. 26, it will be “It All Ends Here” at 6 p.m. with Svengoolie, a block party and the best in “Wicked Art.”
