Des Plaines City Manager Michael G. Bartholomew Awarded for 30 Years of Service

Des Plaines City Manager Michael G. Bartholomew has been presented the 30 Years of Service Award by the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). The acknowledgement, administered by Bonnie Svrec, ICMA President and Robert J. O'Neill, Jr., ICMA Executive Director, was made at the 99th ICMA Annual Conference, September 25, 2013, Boston, New England.

The 30 Years of Service Award recognizes City Manager Bartholomew for “significant contributions and achievements in the advancement of local government administration.” Prior to serving as Des Plaines City Manager, Bartholomew served as the City's Director of Community and Economic Development. His earlier municipal career included serving in Sterling Heights, Michigan as Assistant Manager, City Development Director, Chief Building Official and Housing and Construction Manager.

“I feel honored to receive the 30 Years of Service Award from a professional organization as respected as ICMA. The public sector has been a very rewarding career path for me both professionally and personally. The on-the-job experiences that I have garnered, in combination with the academics required, make municipal government a very gratifying profession. I feel honored and fortunate to be serving the residents of Des Plaines, one of the largest Chicago metropolitan suburbs, at this point in my career. In a service oriented environment, public servants must continue to meet challenges and assure taxpayers that they are getting the very best and that is what I enjoy doing,” Bartholomew said.
