Katherine Elizabeth Designs of Barrington, Illinois won

First Place

Category: Bath

Designer: Katherine Wozniak, Allied ASID, Co-Designer Melissa LeVan

Katherine Elizabeth Designs

Project: Chic, Zen Contemporary Bath

About the winning project:

Chic, Zen, contemporary, sustainable. This bathroom is bold and edgy yet offers a soft, spa-like natural quality with the carbonized bamboo cabinetry. The client requested a bold statement in the design of their bathroom with durable and sustainable materials. Deep, thick drawers house the daily essentials while keeping them out of view for a clean look. Extra thick deep fieldstone color enhanced concrete trough sink adds a contemporary, urban tone to the vanity. The vanity is trimmed with a streamlined bath bar light and teak mirror frame. A custom bamboo cabinet houses towels within arm's reach of the over-sized walk in shower with toweling area and teak platform. We maximized space by tucking the bench under the eaves of the home and adorned the back wall with lagos blue tiles, while the rest of the shower, floors and wall have beautiful, charcoal linen striaed tile set in an oversized brick pattern. The tile frames the beautiful soaking tub that casts a stark, stunning contrast to the space.
