How to drop off items for Countryside recycling fundraiser

Collect your outdated or broken “old” technology and bring it to Countryside Association for safe and easy disposal.

Your donated items will help much-needed programs and services. The recycling program offers hands-on experience to enable individuals to reach their goals of independence, employment and full participation in their community.

Countryside Association will accept electronics and also sneakers, aluminum cans and crayons, computers, hard drives, laptops and laptop batteries, disk drives, processors, modems, keyboards, cords and wires, chargers, video game systems, stereo equipment and cassette players, small appliances, telephones, cellphones, headphones, microphones, speakers, answering machines, printers, fax machines, and copy machines.

Regretfully, Countryside cannot accept: Microwaves, refrigerators, dehumidifiers and air conditioning units. They will accept computer monitors and TVs (32-inch or smaller) when they are accompanied by a $10 per-item donation that can help cover the cost of recycling the item. Countryside will pick up at your home or office if you are disposing of eight items or more.

If you have concerns, please ask Countryside how to safely clean your hard drives prior to donating.

The drop-off location is at Countryside Center, 21154 W. Shirley Road, Palatine (near Deer Park Town Center, the closest intersection is Rand Road and Plum Grove Road).

Drop off Dates will be the last Friday of every month. Due to the holidays in November and December, the drop off dates are Fridays, Nov. 22 and Dec. 20.
