‘Harvest Moon Gala’ to benefit transitional housing for families in need
The 21st annual Michael Joseph Foundation dinner and auction titled “The Harvest Moon Gala” in Barrington will be held Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Sanfilippo Estate in Barrington Hills.
A foundation known for helping others celebrates its 21st year with the “Harvest Moon Gala.” The gala event will begin with docent-led tours of the Sanfilippo Grand Victorian Palace followed by cocktails and dinner in the magnificent Eden Palis. This year’s benefit will include both live and silent auctions, live entertainment, Golden Ticket live, and a raffle.
In response to an increasing number of homeless families due to job loss, serious illness or other personal tragedies, the Michael Joseph Foundation is dedicated to providing transitional housing to families in crisis. Thus far we have helped over 600 families in local counties. The annual event has now raised over $1.5 million and is hosted by its executive board and funding committees which are 100 percent volunteers and based in Barrington.
In a cooperative effort aimed at building self-esteem and ultimately self-reliance, the foundation not only provides housing, but works with Catholic Charities, CEDA, WINGS the Kenneth Young Foundation and Fellowship Housing as they assess clients needs to appropriately provide counseling and job training skills.
