Grand old lady needs attention

I saw her this afternoon from my window seat on Metra. She looked distressed, indeed weathered by time.

I was surprised to see her in front of a community building — the Des Plaines library. I would think that someone there would notice her condition. Maybe they have and plan to do something about her soon.

Our nation’s flag deserves better.
