Des Plaines police use pepper spray after threat
Des Plaines police used pepper spray Sunday morning to subdue a resident who threatened to shoot officers after he called the police department saying he was suicidal.
Officers responding to the call about 9:30 a.m. used “lengthy” negotiations and ultimately pepper spray to get the man to surrender, according to a news release sent by the Des Plaines Police Department.
No police officers were injured and the man was transported to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
