Skokie man found not guilty but insane in deaths

A Skokie man has been found not guilty by reason of insanity in the 2011 stabbing deaths of his 18-year-old daughter and 2-year-old granddaughter.

WLS-TV reports a judge issued the verdict Thursday after bench trial for 39-year-old Miguel Renteria of Skokie.

Investigators said Renteria attacked his daughter, grabbed a second knife and stabbed his granddaughter 10 times, then called 911.

A hearing is scheduled for Oct. 11 to determine treatment for Renteria.
