Open house event to help find cure for Fragile X

Submitted by Team Lizzie

The ninth annual Team Lizzie open house to benefit the National Fragile X Foundation will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Geneva History Center, 113 S. Third St.

The open house features 12 home-based vendors such as Thirty-One Bags, Silpada Jewelry, Longaberger, and Gold Canyon Candles, who sell their products and, at the end of the event, donate a portion of the proceeds to the National Fragile X Foundation to help fund research for a cure.

There also will be a raffle table with donations from some of the local sports teams, as well as local and national retail stores and restaurants.

Tickets are $1. Lizzie Reilly, who has Fragile X Syndrome, will draw a winner for each item.

This year, Buffalo Wild Wings on Randall Road in South Elgin has offered to host a fundraising night Monday, Sept. 30. When a coupon is presented with the benefit’s information on it, 10 percent of that meal’s receipt will be donated to the foundation in the event’s name.
