Hit New York shows headed to Chicago
Two high-profile New York shows from the past season are Chicago bound.
The 2013 Broadway concert "Once Upon a Dream starring the Rascals" is set to play five performances at the Cadillac Palace Theatre from Tuesday, Nov. 5, through Sunday, Nov. 10. Also on tap is Jonathan Tolins' critically acclaimed and award-winning 2013 comedy "Buyer & Cellar" starring Michael Urie ("Ugly Betty"), which will begin a limited run at the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place in April 2014.
"Once Upon a Dream" on Broadway marked the first time that The Rascals, a 1960s rock and soul band famed for hits like "Good Lovin'" and "It's a Beautiful Morning," played together since 1970. Tickets for the Chicago engagement range from $45-$75 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20.
"Buyer & Cellar" is still playing off-Broadway and has generated lots of acclaim for Tolins and Urie, who plays an actor hired by star Barbra Streisand to work in a faux shopping mall built into the basement of her Malibu house.
Peter Marks of The Washington Post praised "Buyer & Cellar" as "a multidimensional unraveling of our voyeuristic enjoyment of celebrity entitlement."
Group tickets are available now for "Buyer & Cellar," though individual tickets will go on sale at a later date. For more information on both shows, visit broadwayinchicago.com.
