Long Grove's vibrant art scene adds another gem

Long Grove's growing art scene of independently owned galleries and shops welcomes the portrait studio & art gallery of Images by K.C. that recently opened at 130 Old McHenry Rd.

Professional photographer K.C. Hatfield is relocating his portrait studio from Buffalo Grove, to join the growth of flourishing art galleries and studios in historic downtown Long Grove. With over 23 years of experience, K.C. focuses his camera on everything from family portraits and business headshots, to event photography including bar mitzvahs and weddings.

In addition to the studio, K.C. will be opening a gallery and gift shop to share in his intriguing macro photography work, alongside other interesting and unique items.

K.C., for years, has kept his eye towards Long Grove for a potential studio location. “I've always felt that special connection, to the historic family spirit, that Long Grove solely provides.”

Hatfield also intends to become a major contributor in the growth and new renaissance of downtown Long Grove. He plans to team with local businesses, by hosting “Long Grove After Hours,” a community-based variety show program. The program will be open to all ages, encouraging development and inspiring the next generation of artists.

“I see downtown Long Grove turning into a new bohemian creative center, where art is celebrated and appreciated in all its many forms,” says K.C. Hartfield. “With its growing local music scene, it's turning into another Ravinia.”

In addition to the nature preserves and historic covered bridges, downtown Long Grove remains picturesque. The town does not allow any big box stores or franchises. The town merchants also pride themselves on personalized attention to customers. For additional information, please contact the Long Grove Visitor's Information Center at 847-634-0888.
