Learn about 'Promise of Sustainable Growth' with St. Paul's UCC
This conversation is for those who see the importance of moving to a more sustainable basis for growth and want to learn more about how leaders in food production and distribution are approaching this goal.
First looking at actions taken by those up and down the food chain to create more sustainable growth, we'll then investigate some of the things consumers can do to help create further change. Emphasizing the symbiotic relationship between consumers and food producers/retailers, sustainability is an achievable goal.
โI think many people will be pleasantly surprised by what those in the food distribution system are thinking about and doing with environmental sustainability,โ shares Bill Bishop, program presenter.
The first 50 people who sign up by emailing stpauluccchurch@yahoo.com or by calling St. Paul United Church of Christ of Barrington at 847-381-0460 will receive a free copy ofโ Sustainability, Social Media, and The Future of Retail,โ a 40-page illustrated report.
Using multi-media and dialogue, Bill Bishop, a long time student of food and agriculture, will facilitate the evening. Bill completed his BS and MS degrees at the University of Maine in Agronomy and Horticulture, and his PhD from Cornell in Agricultural Economics and Food Marketing. He has been a career consultant to food producers and retailers founding Willard Bishop Consulting in 1976 and Brick Meets Click in 2011. Recent projects include major innovations in food distribution and helping define the role of food retailers in achieving sustainability of the environment.
