Truck rolls over man in Aurora
A mechanic was critically injured Wednesday afternoon at a construction site in Aurora when a dump truck he was fixing rolled over him, authorities said.
The accident happened about 1:23 p.m. at the entrance to the construction site along Meridian Road, north of Ferry Road.
Aurora police say the mechanic, a 59-year-old Joliet man, was underneath the dump truck when another worker started the truck, which then rolled over the mechanic. Among the injuries the man suffered were to his arms and ribs.
The injured man was taken to an area hospital and was expected to need surgery.
Illinois State Police were at the scene Wednesday afternoon doing an inspection of the truck. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration also is investigating.
