Softball champs honored in Mundelein

The members of the Mundelein Stampede 16-and-under softball team were honored at Monday’s village board meeting for winning the 2013 American Softball Association championship.

The team won the national title Aug. 4 at a tournament in Pekin. The squad went 7-1 at the tournament and 46-10 over the entire season.

Wearing their jerseys, players and coaches received certificates from Mayor Steve Lentz and handshakes from trustees.
