The Carnival Comes to Town

Fantasy Amusement Carnival is setting up their rides, tents, and booths in Lake Park, on the corner of Lee Street and Touhy Avenue for Fall Fest, a three day family festival that opens this weekend. The event, produced by the Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce, the Des Plaines History Center, and the Des Plaines Park District takes place on Friday, September 13, from 6:00-11:00pm; Saturday, September 14, from noon to 11:00pm; and Sunday, September 15, from noon to 8:00pm. Free admission, free parking, and free concerts are just the beginning of this annual community event that features a full carnival with rides, games and a kid's midway; delicious food and beverages, including beer and a European-style Wine Garden; a KidZone! with crafts, pony rides, kids' entertainment, and an interactive PlayZone; adult bags tournaments; a Sunday custom car show; a Consumer Expo Tent; a fishing derby; a Country Fair Tent; an Open Air Market; and some of the best bands around. “Once the Ferris Wheel is installed, everyone really gets excited,” said Linda Traina, Superintendent of Recreation. “Parents will want to take advantage of the $20 carnival wristband that is good for unlimited rides from noon to 4:00pm on Saturday and Sunday,” she said.
