Police have suspects, no arrests in burglary of Lake Zurich school
Police continue to investigate the theft of an estimated 70 Apple iPads and iPods stolen in a burglary this week at a Lake Zurich school, officials said Thursday.
Lake Zurich Unit District 95 spokeswoman Jean Malek could not immediately provide a dollar figure for the loss of the devices that were removed from Seth Paine Elementary School at 50 Miller Road.
Village police said a school employee reported the burglary at 7 a.m. Wednesday. Police Cmdr. David Bradstreet has said investigators have some specific individuals in mind as suspects, but no arrests were announced Thursday.
Malek said the missing iPads and iPods led to a delay in administering the state’s Measures of Academic Progress tests to students, “but otherwise it was a normal day and the building staff worked together really well to help one another out where needed.”
Lake Zurich police said the burglary at Seth Paine is not connected to a similar one earlier this week at Drake Elementary School in Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood. Chicago police said they arrested a 13-year-old boy, eight other teenagers and a 25-year-old man in that theft.
