Hoffman Estates holds Sept. 11 memorial service

The Village of Hoffman Estates will remember and honor those who tragically lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001 with a memorial service next week for the victims of the terrorist attacks.

The village's annual Sept. 11th Ceremony of Remembrance will take place at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11 at Village Hall, 1900 Hassell Road.

Schaumburg Fire Department Lt. John Schneidwind, a 9/11 first responder, will be the speaker of honor. He will share his firsthand experience assisting at Ground Zero in the aftermath of the tragedy. Chief Michael Hish of the Hoffman Estates Police Department and Lt. Tony Butler of the Hoffman Estates Fire Department will also say a few words. Music will be provided by the Noteables, a local choir.
