Household chemical collection:

The Solid Wast Agency of Lake County hosts a household chemical waste collection Saturday, Sept. 14, at its office, 1311 N. Estes St., Gurnee. Appointments are required. This collection is for residential waste only and business waste will not be accepted. All SWALCO collection events are free for Illinois residents only. Accepted items include: CFL bulbs; unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medicines and supplements (people and pet); household cleaners; gasoline; garden chemicals; pesticides; oil-based paints (no latex) and varnishes; as well as other household chemicals.
