Palatine police traffic safety campaign nets 11 arrests
The Palatine Police Department’s Labor Day Holiday Traffic Safety Crackdown netted 11 arrests, the department reported.
Three arrests were for driving under the influence, three for suspended driver’s license, three for drugs and one for an outstanding warrant. Police also arrested one person for felony unlawful use of a weapon for possession of a stolen pistol.
Officers also issued 44 tickets for seat belt violations, four for uninsured motorists, two for speeding and 13 tickets for other violations.
The campaign was funded through a traffic safety grant supplied by the Illinois Department of Transportation. It out an increased number of patrol officers on the roadways enforcing traffic laws. Their focus was to get intoxicated motorists off the street, enforce seat belt laws and reduce speeding. The patrols emphasized the hours of midnight to 3 p.m., proven to be the deadliest on Illinois roadways, police said.
