Woman questioned in Aurora man's stabbing death

A 19-year-old woman is being questioned about a man's apparent stabbing death early Tuesday on Aurora's near-east side, police said.

Authorities found the man, identified as 31-year-old Lamar D. House, about 3:45 a.m. while responding to a 911 call to his home on the first block of North Ohio Street.

Police said both House and the woman now being questioned were in a bedroom when officers arrived.

Paramedics rushed House, who was not conscious or breathing, to an Aurora hospital. He was pronounced dead at 4:40 a.m.

Authorities said doctors found a puncture wound on the left side of House's chest. The injury was “consistent with a stabbing,” according to a police news release.

The Kane County coroner's office has conducted an autopsy but the preliminary findings were not released because of the ongoing investigation, police said.

Aurora police technicians remained on the scene, processing the man's home for evidence, authorities said.
