No Bed Races, but Naperville’s Last Fling goes on
Minutes after setting up the pony ride and unloading goats, rabbits, ducks and swans for the petting zoo, employees from Indian Ridge Farm in Sheridan ushered the animals back into their trailers and cages after a late morning storm forced Naperville’s Last Fling to temporarily suspend activities at about 11 a.m. Saturday.
Naperville police asked volunteers, vendors, ride operators to shut down their booths and rides and suggested everyone take shelter in the municipal center, the Naper Settlement or their vehicles.
The weather didn’t put too much of a damper on the end-of-summer festival, though it meant the Bed Races were canceled. Other activities and entertainment resumed laster Saturday afternoon.
