Geneva church to host fundraiser for Gulf Coast
Submitted by Rejoice Lutheran
Rejoice Lutheran Church will hold a Big Bottomless Bowl Bash fundraiser at Graham’s 318 Coffee House in Geneva at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5.
Church members will serve different gumbos inspired by the Creole cuisine of the Mississippi region. All funds raised will bring relief to the homeless of the Gulf Coast regions surrounding Biloxi, Miss., and Slidell, La., which are still recovering from a series of natural disasters that have occurred in recent years.
Musical entertainment will be provided by Graham’s resident favorite Patrick James.
Rejoice Pastor Lou Quetel said, “I want to invite you to join in a great opportunity to serve fellow Americans who need help. While the Gulf area has mostly recovered from Hurricane Katrina, the needs of many remain great. Basic shelter and food security are real issues for a lot of families. Rejoice has been serving in this area for four years now, and this has become an important part of our church’s ministry.”
In October, members of Rejoice Lutheran will return to the Gulf Coast for the fifth time and serve with Habitat for Humanity and the Loaves and Fishes Feeding Ministry.
The event will take place outside Graham’s 318, 318 Third St. in downtown Geneva.
