Warren Twp. High students take part in leadership program

Students from Warren Township High School were among students from all over Illinois who took part in the annual Summer Leadership Workshop for Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda at the Crown Plaza in Springfield in August.

FBLA-PBL is dedicated to providing students with the skills necessary to lead them into the future.

Led by Patty Hendrickson, Certified Speaking Professional from La Crosse, Wis., and other speakers, students strengthened their leadership skills, practiced team building, and developed characteristics valuable in the world of work.

Workshops included information on benefits of being and FBLA-PBL member, using body language to communicate, how to accomplish goals, and every cent counts for youth.

Students and advisers from Warren Township High School who participated in the workshop included: co-Presidents Carolyn Kalinowski and Ruben Torres, Vice President Ammar Khan, Parliamentarian Jenny Schneider, treasurers Asif Huq and Will Lu, Secretary Allison Lu, historian/reporters Katie Bell and Giselle Rojas, e-communications specialist Roshan Shankar, bookstore managers Keralynn Little and Connor Leden, and advisers Chris Mason and Kelly Wilkerson.

Distinguished Business Leadership Scholarships were awarded to Ammar Khan, Allison Lu and Jenny Schneider.

Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda, Inc. is a student business organization with nearly a quarter of a million members and advisers in 12,000 charted high school, middle school, and college chapters worldwide.

Its mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs. The association is headquartered in Reston, Va., outside Washington, D.C.
