Buffalo Grove holds annual charity softball game
Buffalo Grove village officials and members of the Buffalo Grove Area Chamber of Commerce teamed up Wednesday night for the charity softball game that is the unofficial lead-in to Buffalo Grove Days, the big festival that runs today through Labor Day.
The seven-inning game at Emmerich Field was for fun, not a competition, said Lynne Schneider, executive director of the chamber.
The chamber and the Friends of the Parks each donated money to the Buffalo Grove Chaplaincy Fund as part of their sponsorship of the game, and individuals made donations at the game.
The fund pays for items such as pagers so that ministers who agree to be on call can be reached when police or firefighters need their assistance, she said.
