3 charged in death of 51-year-old Chicago man

Authorities say two teenagers and an adult have been charged with murder in the death of a man whose body was found in garbage container located near a route taken by Chicago children to their public school.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported that Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney Christy Brewer said Ernest Pritchett III was beaten to death late Sunday after telling Bryan Perkins he didn’t have money he owned Perkins. Perkins took a fence slat and struck the 51-year-old Pritchett in the head, Brewer said.

Authorities allege the two teens, 16 and 17, joined in the attack. The 28-year-old Perkins also used a rock to beat the older man, authorities said.

Police say Pritchett’s body was found early Monday by sanitation workers.

The teens are being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
