Batavia Mothers' Club Foundation grant feeds needy children

Recently, The Batavia Mothers' Club Foundation made a generous donation of $750 to Humanitarian Service Project (HSP). The donation will be used to fund HSP's Feed the Kids (FTK) program, which provides groceries to impoverished families. The Batavia Mother's Club Foundation and HSP have been partnering for four years to alleviate the pain and suffering that poverty brings to children and their families living in DuPage and Kane Counties through their support of the FTK program.

The mission of The Batavia Mothers' Club is for mothers to become involved by helping children and families in the area to succeed, which is why their dedication to HSP's Feed the Kids program has been a positive light for local impoverished families. The organization started out as a women's book club and morphed into a group with a community and philanthropic focus. Every year, the Foundation donates over $25,000 to local charities and not-for-profits whose projects support their mission.

Throughout the summer, FTK distributes a monthly food package to 100 impoverished families, with over 375 children, living in the DuPage and Kane County area. The 150-175 lb. food package includes 3 boxes of non-perishables weighing 25 lbs. each, 15 varieties of fresh fruits and vegetables, 7 kinds of frozen meat, and 3 loaves of Pepperidge Farm bread.

About The Humanitarian Service Project:

HSP's mission is to alleviate the pain and suffering that poverty creates in seniors and children living in DuPage and Kane Counties, Illinois. Last year during the Christmas Offering, 1,636 children received gifts and 150 impoverished families received three weeks of groceries, frozen meats, and fresh produce. With the Senior Citizen Project, HSP provides monthly food deliveries of 100 pounds including fresh produce, frozen meats, non-perishables, paper products and secret pal gifts to 123 low-income seniors. The Children's Birthday Project reaches the youngest underprivileged, making birthdays and Christmas truly memorable occasions for 900 children. Feed the Kids program provides 100 low-income families, including 375 children, with groceries and fresh produce. HSP conducts an annual School Supplies Drive, which sends supplies to the DuPage Back to School Fair in addition to furnishing schools and individual children with necessary supplies.
