The Elgin Masters Softball League was started in 1984 by Bud Wilson, aka the commissioner.
Wilson was honored Tuesday night at the Elgin Sports Complex with an award that showed how the league has appreciated Wilson’s hard work to keep the league viable through the years.
The league consists of six teams, with players ranging in age from 50 (the “kids”) to players 70 and older.
All of the players have played baseball for many years, as evidenced by their knowledge of the game.
Bud Wilson throws the ceremonial first pitch Tuesday to start the Elgin Masters Softball League playoff tournament. He was honored with a trophy to thank him for keeping the league together since starting it in 1984.
