Hoffman Estates now accepting applications to Citizen Fire Academy

The Hoffman Estates Fire Department is now accepting applications for the Citizen Fire Academy. Participants will get a chance to learn about the inner workings of the fire department, with opportunities to use the “Jaws of Life,” climb a fire truck ladder, practice CPR and learn about home fire safety. Applicants must be at least 18 and reside or attend school or work in Hoffman Estates. The classes will meet from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday evenings at Station 24, 5775 Beacon Pointe Drive. The academy starts Sept. 4 and ends Nov. 6. Class size is limited and spots fill quickly. For information or to apply, contact Lt. Tony Butler at (847) 843-4825 or email tony.butler@hoffmanestates.org.
