Oakbrook Center transforms into open-air gallery for annual art show

Oakbrook Center will play host to its 51st annual International Fine Art Exhibition over Labor Day weekend at Route 83 and 22nd Street.

The outdoor shopping destination will transform into a scenic salon as artists showcase thousands of one-of-a-kind works of art from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 31 and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 1.

More than 150,000 visitors are expected to attend this two-day event, featuring paintings in watercolors, pastels, acrylics and oil; photography; pottery; sculptures; jewelry in fine metals and precious stones; works of art in fiber, glass, metal, wood, leather, stone and mixed media.

“This show is one of Oakbrook Center’s longest-standing and most celebrated traditions,” said Suzanne Cook-Beres, the center’s senior marketing manager. “For over 50 years, artists and visitors from all over have come together to make this one of the nation’s top art shows. Our open-air center with a parklike atmosphere provides a perfect setting for the family event.”

Oakbrook Center’s Invitational Fine Art Exhibition showcases work from artists all over the U.S. and Canada. The participating artists are selected through a jury process.

Admission is free, and during the show, restaurants and shops will be open for business. For more information, contact www.oakbrookcenter.com.
