Sample the finer things at North Shore Wine, Beer, Cigar & Food Festival

The annual Libertyville Sunrise Rotary Club Goose is Loose Raffle will be featured this year as part of the fourth annual North Shore Wine, Beer, Cigar & Food Festival benefiting in the Brainerd Community Center, the organizations announced.

The event is planned for Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Brainerd building and field on Route 176 and Brainerd Ave., just west of Milwaukee Avenue, Libertyville.

Sunrise Rotary Club President Jeff Harger sees the match of the two organizations as a successful partnership.

“The Libertyville Sunrise Rotary Club is excited to work with the Brainerd Foundation on a combined event that brings great awareness to our Rotary Charities and the Brainerd Community Center. The entire community will benefit from this exciting joint venture,” he said.

The Fourth Annual North Shore Wine, Beer, Cigar and Food Festival is set for 4 to 8 p.m. A VIP tasting will take place from 3-4 p.m. for attendees who commit to spending $100 on wine, beer or cigars at the festival. General admission opens at 4 p.m.

The festival will feature more than 350 wines, 150 craft beers, fine cigars and food, and live music from area musicians throughout the festival. Local homebrewers will compete in the third annual Besley's Homebrew Competition.

With the addition of the Goose is Loose raffle, there will be an opportunity to win more than $30,000 in prizes.

“This year's festival promises to be bigger and better than ever with the excitement of a cash raffle with $30,000 in prizes. Another addition this year is a VIP preview tasting for committed buyers,” said Brainerd Community Center Board Executive Committee member John Snow.

“Our home-brew contest continues as a unique feature that adds to the fun. Sampling the finer things in life on a warm afternoon while supporting community charities. There's nothing better under the sun.”

Festival admission and raffle tickets can be purchased together or separately. Admission is $30 in advance, $40 at the door — the day of the event. A designated driver ticket is available for $10 at the door. Raffle tickets are available for $25 each or five for $100. A combination ticket available for $50 will provide one admission to the festival, plus one raffle ticket.

Tickets are available from members of both organizations, at Libertyville village hall, select Libertyville retailers or online at www.northshorewinebeerfest.com.

Proceeds from the festival and raffle will benefit Libertyville Sunrise Rotary charities and the Brainerd Community Center project.

Since its inception in 1987, the Libertyville Sunrise Rotary has provided more than $750,000 in grants to local, regional and international charities. For information visit libertyvillesunriserotary.com or contact Harger, at (847) 362-0777, ext. 5000.
