Affordable Care Act programs set at Aurora Public Library

AURORA – Aurora Public Library has scheduled three programs in September that will address the Affordable Care Act and Health Insurance Marketplace. Two programs will be conducted in English and one will be conducted in Spanish.

With the beginning of open enrollment just weeks away, Aurora Public Library is joining other libraries across the country in helping citizens understand the Affordable Care Act and the enrollment process.

Librarians will not enter people's personal details on documents or help them pick plans, but they will be on hand to guide people to information and enrollment forms.

On March 23, 2010, President Barack Obama signed comprehensive health reform – the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act – into law.

Open enrollment starts October 1, when plans and prices are scheduled to be available. Coverage starts as soon as Jan. 1, 2014.

The Health Insurance Marketplace will list insurance options available in the Aurora area in one place. Citizens can compare plans based on price, benefits, quality and other features.

The Main Library, 1 E. Benton St., will host a program at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 in the lower level Multipurpose Room. Giovanni Gomez of the Illinois Health Insurance Marketplace Team from Gov. Pat Quinn's office will present information on the Affordable Care Act and will answer questions. Please register by calling 630-264-4100.

The Eola Road Branch, 555 S. Eola Road, will host an informational program led by Daniel Maldonado of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, in the Meeting Room. Register by calling 630-264-3400.

The Spanish-language program is set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10 in the Multipurpose Room at the West Branch Library, 233 S. Constitution Drive. Daniel Maldonado of Blue Cross Blue Shield will present this program as well. Call 630-264-3600 to register.

Registration for all programs also can be accomplished online at www.aurorapubliclibrary.org (Events).
