BACOA plans ‘When I’m 64’ workshops

The Barrington Area Council on Aging and Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital are sponsoring “When I’m 64,” a three-part workshop that will help guide 60 somethings as they look toward retirement. The workshops will be from 7-9 p.m. on Mondays from Sept. 9 through Sept. 23, at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, 450 W. Highway 22, Barrington.

Workshop One, Sept. 9, will cover the basics, such as Social Security and Medicare. SHIP counselor Bonnie Sabin and Royce Blackwell, a retired Social Security Administration counselor, will speak.

Workshop Two, Sept. 16, will focus on veterans’ benefits. Barry Walter, director of the VFW Service Office, Department of Illinois VFW, will speak.

Workshop Three, Sept. 23, will focus on how to use the Internet and social media to stay connected. Liz Kirchoff, from the Barrington Area Library, and computer specialist Mike Konie, from MJK Consulting, will speak.

The workshops are free and may be attended separately, but registration is required.

To register, or for information, call the Barrington Area Council on Aging at (847) 381-5030.
