Fowles grabs another WNBA weekly honor
NEW YORK — Sylvia Fowles of the Chicago Sky and Kristi Toliver of the Los Angeles Sparks were named the WNBA’s Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Aug. 12 through Sunday.
Fowles’ 13.3 rebounds per game led all WNBA players last week by at least three rebounds. She was also the Eastern Conference’s second leading scorer, averaging 19.3 points in the Sky’s three games. This marks the seventh Player of the Week award of her career.
Toliver’s 21.5 points per game last week ranked second in the Western Conference and third leaguewide. She also tied for the league lead in free throw percentage, shooting 100 percent from the line across Los Angeles’ two games. Toliver is a former first-round draft pick (third overall) by the Sky in 2009. She was traded to Los Angeles in 2010.
