Chicago swing band highlights BACOA fundraiser
Chicago swing bandleader Alan Gresik highlights a night of music, food and auctions at the Barrington Area Council on Aging’s “A Night of Chicago Swing Benefitting BACOA.”
The event will be from 6:30-10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Makray Memorial Golf Club, 1010 S. Northwest Hwy., Barrington.
Gresik directs the Swing Shift Orchestra every Thursday at Chicago’s historic Green Mill Lounge. He leads a variety of smaller groups that play throughout the Chicago area and perform a variety of music styles.
Guests at “Aged to Perfection” will also have a chance to win the evening’s main raffle item: The Wagon of Wine, two cases of wine specially selected by Wine Discount Center.
This year’s event offers early-bird pricing. Tickets are $100 until Aug. 23; $115 after. Reservations are available from BACOA at (847) 381-5030; online reservations are available at www.bacoa.org.
Proceeds from the event benefit BACOA’s services and programs for seniors and caregivers. These include Meals with Wheels, information and resources on aging-related issues, social and recreational programs for seniors, supportive services for family caregivers, support and education groups.
The event will be sponsored by Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital; Alden Estates of Barrington; PricewaterhouseCoopers; and The Garlands of Barrington; BMO Harris Bank is the entertainment sponsor.
