Living Water Chicago to Host Third Annual Walk for Water

On Saturday, Aug. 24, locals will gather in Glen Ellyn to 'Walk for Water' in solidarity with millions of people around the world who walk miles to collect often contaminated water each day.

“Last year's Walk for Water not only renewed my heart for serving others,” Jonathan Jackson, organizer of this year's walk said, “it also gave our family the opportunity to serve together.”

Beginning at Ben Franklin Elementary School at 8:30 a.m., the Living Water Chicago sponsored event will lead participants 1.5 miles to a local water source where they will fill up water jugs and then carry them on the return journey.

Proceeds from this year's walk will benefit water projects in India, sponsored by Living Water International, Living Water Chicago's parent organization. Living Water International has completed more than 11,000 water projects in 23 different countries since 1990. The groups sent to complete these projects travel to water-deficient communities to drill or repair clean water wells and provide hygiene education.

Registration is $20, but it is free for all children under 15. Participants can register at www.ChicagoWalkForWater.eventbrite.com. For more information, visit www.water.cc/chicago.
