New Pastor for First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights

First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights will soon have a new pastor. After a comprehensive search, the Reverend Alexander Lang was called by the congregation and will begin his ministry with the church on Monday, August 26. Lang will be joined by his wife Courtney Lang and their two sons. Beginning Sunday, September 1, Lang will lead worship and begin a sermon series on the book of Genesis in the Bible.

As a father with young children, Lang has an abundance of energy and vitality, traits that will serve him and the congregation well. He is eager to share his strong biblical knowledge, passion for teaching and preaching, and desire to encourage a new focus on spiritual growth. “I believe God's Spirit will unleash the gifts in our community that are waiting to be utilized for God's kingdom,” said Lang.

Lang is a 2007 graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary. He also holds a degree in religious studies from Rice University, in Houston, Texas, and spent a year studying theology at Oxford University in Oxford, England. Most recently, Lang served as associate pastor at Pine Street Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. During Lang's time at Pine Street he was instrumental in growing youth ministries, mission activities, and community outreach. Katie Marr, who served on First Presbyterian's pastor search committee, said, “Alex impressed us with his amazing way of turning complexities into simplicities. He is a transformational thinker and will lead our church down a new and exciting path.”

Lang will preach in worship at 9:00 (contemporary) and 10:30 am (traditional) beginning Sunday, September 1. Sunday, September 8 marks the beginning of the fall program year, and services will shift to 8:30 and 11:00 am, with a dedicated education hour, 9:45-10:45 am. First Presbyterian Church is at 302 N. Dunton Avenue in Arlington Heights. To learn more, visit www.fpcah.org or call the church office at 847-255-5900.
