Hoffman Estates hosts recycling event

Hoffman Estates is partnering with the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC) to host a free, one-day recycling event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Susan H. Kenley-Rupnow Public Works Center, 2305 Pembroke Ave. The event is open to residents of SWANCC communities only and proof of residency is required. Workers will unload recyclables from vehicles that pull up at the public works center. All paper will be shredded on site and all electronics — including computers, printers, scanners, cellphones, fax machines, TVs, DVRs and video game consoles — will be recycled. Residents will be limited to six grocery-size paper bags or file-size boxes of documents. Binders should be removed and paper should not be brought in plastic bags. The village will also accept drugs, fluorescent light bulbs, batteries, printer cartridges for recycling, as well as latex paint for a small charge.
