Hillcrest Elementary recycles:

Hillcrest Elementary School in Antioch was one of five winners in a recent nationwide recycling contest. Students at the Antioch Elementary District 34 school sent 1,822 empty glue sticks and bottles to TerraCycle Inc. as part of its annual Elmer’s Annual Classroom Cleanout contest. For each piece of waste sent to TerraCycle, the school earns points toward charity gifts or cash donations to any school or nonprofit. The items are recycled into various products, such as trash cans, picnic tables and watering cans. TerraCycle takes difficult-to-recycle packaging and turns it into affordable and innovative products.
