4-year-old shot in the abdomen

Authorities in Chicago said a 4-year-old is hospitalized after being shot in the abdomen as she rode a scooter in the city’s Chicago Lawn neighborhood.

Witnesses said a man came out of an alley Monday afternoon and began shooting, wounding the little girl and a 31-year-old man.

A Chicago Fire Department spokesman said the girl was taken in serious condition to Mt. Sinai Hospital. The man, who was shot in a thigh, was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in serious condition.

Authorities said the little girl and adult victim aren’t related. No arrests have been made.
