Palatine's Salon Lorrene Owner Donates $2,500 Prize
July 29, 2013 (VPPR) – Palatine, IL. Lorrene Conino, owner of Salon Lorrene in Palatine recently won 2nd place in the Wella Hair Dressers at Heart Charity Challenge and a $2,500 prize for her involvement with C.A.T.I.F [Celebrating All That Is Feminine], a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit public charity.
“I chose to donate the $2,500 prize back to C.A.T.I.F. We will be establishing a grant program to further assist those in need; these funds provide us with seed money for this exciting new project,” Conino said.
Conino's award was based on her philanthropic work, as well as her staff's involvement in supporting C.A.T.I.F. through volunteerism. She was required to respond to a battery of questions explaining in detail her involvement and commitment to the organization.
“I am extremely proud to be vice president of C.A.T.I.F. Our mission is to pool our resources together so that we may touch, encourage and empower at-risk girls and women in-need,” Conino said.
The charity provides financial assistance for established social service organizations in the northwest suburbs, and now has an eye toward creating new initiatives to further their cause.
C.A.T.I.F. was established as a non-profit in 2010, and has raised $57,000 in funds for organizations such as Women in Need Growing Stronger (WINGS), Society for the Preservation of Human Dignity, Home of the Sparrow, Lazarus House and others.
The 3rd annual Family Picnic Rib & Chili Cook-Off C.A.T.I.F. fundraiser will be held on September 8, 2013 from noon until 6 p.m. at Station Street near Lamplighters. To learn more, visit www.catifcharity.com.
