Fine Line offers summer classes

Felting a Landscape Class: Felting is fun, so get your creative juices flowing and learn how to “paint” a landscape using both unspun wool and wool yarns at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 27, in the Kavanagh Building Surface Design Studio. You will begin with the process of wet felting to create a background for your picture. Then you will use needle felting techniques to shape the wool into the elements of a dimensional landscape scene. It is open to all levels. Supplies will include a dish pan, plastic garbage bag, two bath towels, scissors and lunch. Cost is $96-$121.

Market Basket Weaving Class: A nice rectangular shape with wooden handle, just in time for the farmers market season. Use this basket to gather all those goodies this summer and show off your basket making skills. You will learn base lay out, start and stop weaving, colors, rim lashing and texture at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 27, in The Barn Fiber Studio. Approximately 11- by 7- by 7-inch with notch square handle. Skill level easy for all. Supplies including note taking materials, tape measure, hand towel, at least six clothespins and lunch. Cost is $95-$120.

Kumihimo- Intro to Intermediate: Kumihimo Japanese braiding can be used for trim, cords, jewelry, embellishments and more. In this class at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, you will use a Marudai (round stand). Indicate upon registration if you will need equipment. We will explore different structures and color placements at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1. Supplies, if you have equipment, will including Marudai, counterweight and eight bobbins, as well as scissors and note taking materials. Cost is $60-$85.

Dichroic Pendants Class: Dichroic pendants are beautiful and surprisingly easy to make. Learn the basics of fusing and working with this striking glass as you create colorful jewels at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1. Each student will make at least four dichroic pendants. No experience is necessary. Supplies include paper towels, sharpies and a cork backed metal ruler. Cost is $60-$85.

Felted Vessel: Come create a felted vessel for use as an art object or unique plant holder at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3. Supplies include two towels, a cookie baking pan with edges (not flat), plastic bucket or bowl, sponge, scissors and glass vase to shape vessel. Cost is $100-$125.

Apple Blossom Basket: A very cute small basket with wooden base. You will use two kinds of reeds to complete this basket at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, in the Fiber Studio. Open to all skill levels. Supplies include note taking materials, tape measure, hand towel, at least 6 clothespins and lunch. Cost is $75-$90.
