HandsOn Suburban Chicago seeks volunteers for Veteran Advisory Council

HandsOn Suburban Chicago is pleased to announce the formation of a Veterans Advisory Council scheduled for fall 2013 as part of a new initiative to support veterans.

The objective of the HOSC Veteran's Program is to make veterans aware of the services available to them, support the nonprofit organizations that deliver these services and to also engage veterans in volunteer activities.

HOSC is currently seeking knowledgeable and socially active veterans to serve on this council that will meet monthly and will be facilitated by HandsOn Suburban Chicago.

The primary purpose of the council is to serve as a collective resource with members helping to identify voids in available resources and programs and subsequently making recommendations for solutions and improvements.

“We feel that getting direct feedback from those personally affected by these issues will allow us to develop a more effective program,” said Courtney Barden, Veteran Outreach VISTA.

HandsOn Suburban Chicago will support the Veterans Advisory Council to provide quality services to veterans and their families throughout our service area.

Applicants must be active or retired military from any U.S. branch. For details and an application please contact Courtney Barden at Courtney.barden@volunteerinfo.net or (847) 228-1320, ext. 120.
