Palatine commission again supports controversial housing project
The Palatine Plan Commission on Tuesday again voted 7 to 1 in favor of recommending the Catherine Alice Gardens permanent supportive housing development for people with disabilities, according Kevin Anderson, Palatine's assistant director of zoning and planning.
Commissioners voted the same way last month after more than five hours of testimony by supporters and opponents of the proposed 33-unit apartment building on Eric Drive.
The village council sent the issue back to the Plan Commission so that an attorney representing nearby businesses could finish his cross-examination of an appraiser hired by the developer. The appraiser stated the affordable housing development wouldn't negatively impact property values.
