Politicians fearful of saying no?

Many state politicians will simply not give up any of the money offered them by state worker unions — large donations for campaign expenses so that they do not have to use their own in many cases. Unless they are independently wealthy, it takes courage for them to turn down perks like these. Perhaps a lot of these legislators are friends with many state workers, their unions and teachers, and are afraid of losing too many of them.
