ABC 7 Chicago unveils new app

With this week’s launch of its Watch ABC app, ABC 7 Chicago became the city’s first station to offer 24/7 live programming on viewers’ smartphones, tablets or computers.

John Idler, president and general manager of ABC 7 Chicago, said the “innovative experience” will allow viewers with participating subscription services to stream news, weather and popular ABC television shows on their devices. On-demand content is also available.

Viewers can access the app at watchabc.com.

Disney/ABC Television Group has several agreements for Watch ABC products with cable companies, including Comcast, Cablevision and AT&T U-verse.

The app is also available in five other markets: Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Philadelphia and Raleigh-Durham.
