Launched in 2005 and sponsored by the Barrington Village Association, Uncork Barrington has become ever more successful with each year. Thanks to the hard work of many and to Uncork Barrington’s patrons, the BVA has been able to make donations to the Career Place, Barrington Area Council on Aging, the Leona Bataille Scholarship Foundation, Barrington Youth Dance Ensemble, Barrington Fine Arts Boosters, Barrington Area United Way, Barrington Breakfast Rotary, District 220 Educational Foundation and many more.
To enrich life in the center of the community by highlighting downtown’s positive points is the mission of the BVA, which has been “bringing neighbors together” since 2000. Uncork Barrington is but one example of the proud work of the BVA, which has worked to bring focus to downtown Barrington through such functions as the Farmers Market, open each Thursday from June through October.
Committed to Barrington’s historic legacy, the BVA supports good causes, such as Memorial Park, the Hough Street Scholarship Fund, and more. During the holiday season, the BVA has donated a brick to the Memorial Park bearing the name of that citizen who has, through individual effort, made a unique contribution to the village. This BVA has also partnered with the Barrington Breakfast Rotary and will be launching a huge fest this coming holiday season called Kris Kringle — more on that in the months to come.
