Arlington Heights Scout Finishes Eagle Project

Jordan Graves of Arlington Heights has been in scouting for over 12 years. He started Boy Scouting with Troop 37 based out of St. Peters Lutheran Church and School with scout master Tom Kresnicka. Gaining experience from numerous troop meetings and campouts he worked his way up the ranks until he was part of the leadership team of the troop.

His Eagle Scout project was landscaping the entryway at Ivy Hill Elementary School in Arlington Heights. He researched the plants for the landscaping and recruited 25 volunteers from both friends, scouts and relatives to help prepare the soil and plant the new shrubs and perennials. Jordan collected over $1000 for the necessary materials. With the permission of the District of Facilities of School

District 25; Jordan and his crew planted a total of 49 plants in the area on June 29 of this year. In addition to the designated plot, his team also improved the surrounding areas with weeding and mulching.

Jordan says that being a scout has taught him many life lessons. One of the most valuable lessons to him is learning to use his leadership skills and the value of teamwork. Planning, coordinating and following this project through to the end has shown just how much Jordan has learned over the years.
