We need leaders to fight corruption
Mr. Lerman’s letter (June 17), while trying to prove more corruption in the Reagan administration as compared to President Obama’s, doesn’t give all the facts. Investigation and indictment aren’t convictions — does the IRS investigation into Tea Party and Christian organizations, or the NSA investigation into millions of U.S. citizens, ring a bell for Mr. Lerman? The convictions out of the 138 listed was 32.
However, to give Mr. Lerman credit, he is correct. He is so correct that the American citizens only wish we had a government that would still go out and investigate, indict and convict the people within the government who are corrupt. Our country needs more people like those in the Reagan era who were willing to fight corruption and go after the bad guys.
Sadly it isn’t happening. The elites are closing ranks, and the American people are the losers. So let Mr. Lerman tout his statistics, at least for the most part that truth prevailed during the Reagan administration. I’m not sure the same can be said for the current administration.
