Palatine flight attendant acquitted of weapons charge

A longtime flight attendant from Palatine, who authorities say carried a loaded weapon onto an airplane last year, was acquitted of the charge, Cook County court records show.

During a routine screening last November, Transportation Security Administration agents discovered a loaded .22 caliber revolver in a travel bag belonging to 67-year-old Sheila Schultz, a 44-year American Airlines employee with no criminal record.

At the time of her arrest, defense attorney David Studenroth said Schultz’s husband had accidentally left the gun in the carry-on bag without his wife’s knowledge.
