Palatine Park District hosts local civic leaders

With nearly all public agencies facing challenges brought on by reduced funding, Palatine Park District recently hosted representatives from local government agencies to share both challenges and best practices. This Intergovernmental Dinner was held the evening of Thursday, June 13, at Falcon Park Recreation Center.

Organizations with representatives at the dinner included Harper College, Hoffman Estates Park District, Palatine Park District, Palatine Public Library District, Palatine Township, Salt Creek Park District, and village of Palatine. The event was hosted by Palatine Park District Board of Commissioners and senior staff.

Each governmental agency shared a presentation outlining challenges, goals and successes for their organization. Following the presentations, some areas of potential collaboration were identified such as serving those seeking jobs, resource sharing, space and room availability, shared training, cooperative technology, service to children and families, education our constituents, cross promotions, and joint educational opportunities.

According to Mike Clark, executive director at Palatine Park District, “Palatine Park District was thrilled to host the dinner and provide an opportunity for elected officials and staff to network and become better informed of what each organization provides to the community. It was of great value to everyone, but especially newly elected board members, to learn more about the services provided to the community and commitment to intergovernmental cooperation.”
